Every new moon is celebrated with a "kai tuttu oota".
Wondering what this is? Well, you would know if you were lucky enough to have experienced this with grandparents around you. On New moon, the family would gather up outside the house or on a terrace. The eldest female member, ajji- would have a huge vessel of sambhar rice mixed. The kids and others would sit around her. Ajji would roll out the rice into a ball and serve each member onto the cup shaped palms. That would be the story time, time to chat, all in one- a family time!
The care givers of Shishunivasa leave no stone unturned to make the kids feel special, feel at home always! Every Poornima is a celebration. The kids wait for their dinner time. There are groups of 5/6 kids with a care giver. They sit in a circle and enjoy the meals!
You always tend to eat more when fed as a kai thuttu rather than just eating from a plate yourself! if you still do not get what this is? come next poornima, drop by and see it yourself!
